Welcome to the home of the poet at rest.

"I planned a lot of things in my life, but this website was not one of them. A happy accident I guess. So here it is; a little of me, of life, of the world and maybe even something that is inside of you."

"I would like to offer a special thanks to Elizabeth Dunford, Marcus Dunford, Marie Ellen Johns & Pris Campbell (all my dearest and best) for their love, patience and just being there."
Berenice Dunford

"This site is dedicated to my father, friend and mentor. He has taught me to see the world through open eyes. I miss him greatly but I am glad that I have known him. The memories will live forever."

This website is in the process of being reconstructed following its disappearence after a technical problem. Some links may not work and others aren't even here yet. I am updating as fast as I can in between the gazzillion things which I seem to find to fill my time with. As I'm way too much of a perfectionist this will all take a while. It's been nearly two months so far and still I'm wading through the lower regions of my list of poems. Plus I'm working between two site builders (like anything in life there is never one perfect whole solution) and one of these keeps inserting odd bits of code which I really don't want. Aarrgghh!! Berenice, May 11th 2007.

Finally I got the poems finished a few hours later and a new one up!! Unwedding Vows

Timeline of an internet poet.
1999
Berenice Dunford uses the internet for the first time and finds it very slow.

November 2002
Berenice is persuaded to post a poem on the internet. Manhatten Rocks is posted by a friend, Ellen Johns, on the message board of Pris Campbell's website, Poetic Inspirations.

June 2003
The message board changes its name to Bag End Poetry & Message Board and Berenice takes on its administration. She starts to take the first steps in learning HTML, under the guidance of Pris.

October 2003
The Poet's Mountain is created. This is Berenice's original website. (Some of the early page designs can still be seen, in 2005, on a few of her poetry and fiction pages.)

2004
Berenice has a poem featured in the Kensington and Norwood Writer's Group 2003 Retrospective.

May 2004
The name changes to the poet at rest. Berenice redesigns the website and tries out some special effects. Later, music is added to a few pages.

November 2004
Five of Berenice's poems are published in blackmailpress 11.

December 2004
Berenice signs up for a blog and grasshopper singing is added to her website.

2005
Three of Berenice's poems are featured in the Kensington and Norwood Writer's Group VoicePrint 1 2005 Anthology.

August 2005
Berenice takes the decision to register the poet at rest as a domain. The entire website undergoes a total redesign, resulting in the look that can now be seen. The special effects and music are removed. Berenice has chosen to go for faster page upload and a user friendly experience for her readers.

The original page colours and layouts are placed over the new template, with only minor modifications to allow for page widths and colour schemes.

March 2006
One new page is added in the poetry section; "If trees were tall and grasses short I'd still be child and full of thought, I'd scar my knees and kick up sand..." Five poems are published in blackmailpress 15.

June 2006
New template for the poet at rest is completed. Insomniac is added to the poetry section.

March 2007
Due to a technical glitch the website is mislaid. Berenice decides to take advantage of this and redesign the template. Fortunately she has saved the website content on disc.
