Unwedding Vows

because I am losing you
and you are loosing me,
your eyes drift anywhere
but mine

your hands touch anyone
but me

I have seen you walking
further and further away
from me

closer to any stranger
but me

you do not know them
but you would rather be known
by anyone else
but me

this is our divorcing
our unwedding,
our unattracting

every whispered
promise swallowed into silence,
every breath
upon listening ears cold,
drawn in

our children are
unconceived
undiscussed
our time is re-reeling, tapes flapping
in an east wind

in a gale as harsh
as our unloveliness.
